Psychological indicators of serial killers
Afraid someone might be a psychopath but is hiding it? Here are some indicators to look for:
1. Antisocial Behavior- They tend to do poorly in school, have trouble holding down jobs, and often work as unskilled laborers.
2. Abused as children- Many people who grow up to be violent or abusive were abused as children psychologically, physically and sexually.
3. Male- Over 90% of serial killers are males
4. Substance Abuse- Many serial killers struggle or have struggled with substance abuse
5. Arson- Many serial killers start out as arsonists because it involves manipulating power and control, something that serial killing also offers.
6. Intelligent- They usually have IQs in the “bright normal” range, making them more intelligent than the average person.
7. Family history- Criminal, psychiatric and alcoholic histories are often passed down to generations.
8. Violence- From an early age they exhibit signs of violence and are often interested in voyeurism, fetishism, and arson.
9. Unstable Family Life- They usually come from broken families and are often raised by their mothers.
10. Torturing- Many serial killers will begin by torturing small animals for practice and then graduate to human victims.
