Wilma Evan

From cleaning the school grounds and hallways to helping out with charities, this person has seen it all for the past 34 years at NHHS.

Mrs. Wilma Evans is coming up on her 34th year anniversary at NHHS and to reflect on these many years here she remembers 34 years ago when she started out as a substitute. “I started in 1979 when Mr. McGee was principal here and it was a lot different from now,” states Evans.

She states that now there isn’t enough respect for the building like there was when she first started.  The only thing she thinks stayed the same here are the friendly people. That’s her favorite part about working here along with the fun activities that go on and the friends Evans has made.

Though there are some more difficult parts to Evans’ day at work, she says that is just included as part of her custodian job. “At times keeping the whole school clean is difficult and also snow removal,” said Evans.

Outside of school, Evans enjoys teaming up with the FFA at some of their charity events in which they get involved. From helping out the poor to being involved with bone outs are some of the things Evans helps out.

Evans also is involved with the Darlington fire company. “I’m a part of the administration,” states Evans. As a part of the fire company administration, she helps to plan out dinners, weddings, and other events involved with the fire company.
