Barrett says goodbye to Hawks Nest

Mr. Andrew Barrett is also leaving the science department at the duration of the school year. Barrett has said that he is looking to teach in Pennsylvania.
“Coming in as a freshman, I was afraid of strict, unwelcoming teachers, but Mr. Barrett and I clicked,” says junior Rachael Griffin. “He made a subject that originally seemed originally boring, interesting. I am so sad to see him go.”
Many other students have been disappointed to learn about Barrett’s departure, some even sending around ‘Save Mr. Barrett’ petitions.
“I felt honored that students cared enough about me to write a petition to save my position,” said Barrett. He also said that he will “miss all of the unique students I’ve met over the past few years while working here… I hope to be remembered as a teacher who is helpful and giving to all of his students.”
““Mr. Barrett is a young, energetic teacher, well-loved by students and staff,” says science teacher Brady Green. “He will be greatly missed.”
