Food shortages. They are a real thing and can very well happen even when people least expect it. According to InforMEA, a food shortage is when food supplies within a bounded region do not provide the energy and nutrients needed by the region’s population. Food shortage is most easily conceptualized as a production problem, but constraints on importation as well as storage can also cause or contribute to food shortages. 

     Will food shortage become a problem, or will the farming costs cause prices to rise? March 28, Biden announced food shortages.  

     “Yes, we did talk about food shortages, and it is going to be real. The price of the sanctions is not just imposed upon Russia, it’s imposed upon an awful lot of countries as well, including European countries and our country as well.”  

     Maybe if this country were not so dependent on other countries, we would not have a problem with food shortage or any other problem we have, including other countries that we depended on for products, etc.  

     This country needs to have some more independence. We need to stop depending on China for clothes or furniture or things along those lines. We are capable of producing those things ourselves.

      Now I am not saying we should not be dependent on China at all, because it is okay to be somewhat dependent on them. But we can also just do those things ourselves.  

    Now for depending on countries for food, America is more dependent on Canada and Mexico but that is not just it.  We rely on many countries for our food. Which partially is understandable because we may not have the right climates to produce the kind of food that can be grown somewhere else, but isn’t technology becoming more advanced now? 

     Can’t we make a greenhouse where it is the perfect climate and perfect area for the foods to grow that we can not just naturally grow in our climate? 

     Yes, that may be a bad idea. But it is ten times better than not getting food at all because there is a war or a transportation problem. Whatever it may be that causes a food shortage, anything that we can do to prevent that is better than that. 

     There are many different ways that our government could go about this food shortage. This country can not rely on other countries for as much of the stuff that we already do. This country is supposed to be independent right? 

     Then why doesn’t it seem that way?
