Junior Jody Cadden committed to Millersville for lacrosse on Jan 5.   Millersville University of Pennsylvania is a public college in Millersville, PA. A division 2 school, the Marauders are members of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference for all 18 varsity sports.

Cadden has been playing lacrosse since she was 6,  starting at Elite Lacrosse Club in fourth grade. In seventh grade she went to NEMS lacrosse club.

After committing, Cadden says that “It feels so much more stress relieving. I know that in the summer I was really stressed out during games and tournaments, and the smallest mistake had me really worried that the coaches wouldn’t want me. But in reality that’s not practical because everyone makes mistakes. This summer I’ll have so much stress off my chest. Honestly, I just feel so much more relaxed.”

Currently, Cadden is playing for NEMS lacrosse with her favorite coach thus far. She says that her previous and present coaches have “influenced who [she is] today”, developing and furthering her skills as both a player and a person.

“ “I visited there a few times and I went to a prospect camp, so when I played and met the girls I felt like I could fit in there really well,” says Cadden on how she decided which school to pursue. “I didn’t really want to go to necessarily a big school, and Millersville isn’t necessarily a big school. It’s also not really far from my house, so when I want to come back for winter or spring break it’s only about an hour away.”

Cadden felt like the lacrosse girls were “really energetic and loving”, so she felt really “comfortable” in the group. Skillswise, Cadden felt like all the girls were “necessarily on the same level”, but she has plans to go to some of their games this summer to see the dynamic of the team.

When talking about playing time, Cadden says that “It’s definitely going to be a challenge and I just have to work hard at it because I can’t just show up there and expect to be a starter. Even though I’m committed, I still have to earn my playing time just like the rest of the team.”

Though Cadden is excited about playing for the lacrosse team, she plans to also pursue her major in business while at Millersville.
