Stress is back to attack

Through high school, everyone is struggling through the days, trying to get work done or trying to get through drama. One word describes what most people endure: stress.

In high school, first signs of true stress start freshman year. Freshmen tend to struggle as they become accustomed to the new building. The schedule changes and all the upperclassmen can be intimidating.

Freshman Jenna Boyd said, “Getting use to all the homework and all the classes is hard. Geometry goes so fast and I’m not used to going so fast and learning so much in one class.”

“All the work and all the classes stress everyone out to be honest. I think that joining sports is a good stress reliever,” states freshman Lexi Kessler.

Sophomores are at the point where they are seeing how stressful high school is becoming.

Sophomore Hannah Herron states, “What’s stressful is trying to find time to do everything. My biggest source of stress is trying to make sure everything in my schedule works out and the everything on my schedule fall on the same day.”

Sophomore Kyle Russell advises all the freshmen to be calm.

“If you are stressed call up a few friends to help you with homework and definitely find an after school activity,” said Russell.

Juniors are going through stress of a different kind, involving homework, research papers and colleges.

Junior Rachel Beichler states, “I think as a junior, stress is from all the homework and looking for colleges comes with a lot of work. Colleges are now looking at what you’re doing, so that adds a lot more work.”

Though there is a lot of stress, juniors have their own personal stress too, “Personally it’s getting my homework done and having commitment to sports,”said Beichler.

There are also plenty of ways that juniors can relieve a lot of the stress going on this time of year.

“Get out of people’s ways,” states junior Lexi Kirkey. “And when all else fails, go eat some chocolate.”

Seniors who are facing the last year of their high school career are already facing the stress that comes with getting ready for graduation. That include, finishing SATs, getting all the necessary credits, and making plans for post-high school life.
