Hidden access to the deep web

The internet is a vast system, and only a little is accessible to the public. One inaccessible part is the deep web, which is only available to computer users who download The Onion Router (TOR) program.

According to Onion Routing, TOR is made up of projects that research, design, build and analyze anonymous communication systems. It focuses on being low-key internet-based connections that resist traffic analysis, eavesdropping, and other attacks both by outsiders (users that do not use TOR) and insiders (users that have the TOR program). Originally, TOR was created by the Navy, and is used for military applications by protecting communications and intelligence gatherings.

TOR is a free download that is available to all computers and runs on most common operating systems. Since the release of TOR in 1996, several new “generations” have been created.

One of the main issues that users have had with onion routing is keeping the address of mail they send anonymous, as well as keeping sender unidentified. However, the socket connections of TOR have resulted in the ability to send and receive anonymous mail.
