Winter sports slide into season

Put on your winter coats and lace up those winter boots, because it’s time to hit the snowy hills.

This year, many winter sports fans are looking to get away and have a relaxing time participating in snowboarding, skiing, and tubing.

According to Cnn.com, Beaver Creek in Colorado is one of the top five places to be for the winter weather in the world.

According to cnn.com, the resort organizes itself in a fashion that offers specialized activities for each individual family. They even have complimentary games that are design for children of younger age.

According to beavercreek.com, Beaver Creek has activities like storytelling on the hill, in-village street fair with music, magic shows, après-ski chocolate chip cookies at 3 pm, plus more.

“I have always wanted to visit this resort,” said Joseph Miller, senior. “I know that one of my friends had visited this place, and I said that they would live there if they could, that it was one of the best experiences they have had.”

Another resort winter sport lovers is Yellowstone Club located in Wyoming.

According to cnn.com, this club is filed for bankruptcy protection in 2008, only to climb out of bankruptcy the next year.

But skiing is not the only thing that Yellowstone Club offers; in the summer the resort is open to golfers.

Mammoth, CA, according to cnn.com, is snowboarding heaven.

TransWorld Snowboarding gave Mammoth the award of top spot for its pipe and second place for the overall resort category.

According to cnn.com, this resort has gravity-defying monster pipes and the six-meter-deep Super Duper, Olympic-size pipe, the same pipe Olympic gold medalist Shaun White boards, which attracts many snowboarding fans.

A local ski resort would be Roundtop located in Lewisberry, Pennsylvania.

The resort offers many different activities such as snowboarding and skiing lessons, snow tubing, and lodging for overnight stays.

“Roundtops probably one of the best place around here to learn to ski or snowboard, the trails are pretty intermediate and the prices are great,” said Logan Kopeck, former student at NHHS and snowboard instructor.

“They always have deals like from opening day until Christmas it;s only $39 for rentals, lessons, and a lift ticket,” said Kopeck.
