Slam-dunking into Season

Girls’ Basketball with new coaching staff

This winter season, the Girls’ Basketball team has a new coach, Coach Kristopher Kapinos and Coach Kristin Morris.
Previously, Coach Kapinos has coached North Harford’s Boys’ Basketball team and Coach Morris has experience playing professional basketball.
“I’m hoping to work with coach Kapinos to develop a strong fundamental team that works hard and never gives up. If we are sound fundamentally, and we play hard every game, I think we’ll be competitive,” stated Coach Morris.
Team captains this year include seniors Emilia Ferrara and Bailey Saneman.
“This year we have a completely different coaching staff and a completely different style and I think it fits our team better,” stated Saneman. Saneman has been a part of the high school team since freshman year and has been on the varsity team for the past two years.
“As captain I’ll be positive, help encourage everybody and try the best I can,” said Saneman.
The basketball team has practiced for this upcoming season by having scrimmages against Kent Island and Perry Hall. They beat Kent Island, and won the first half of the scrimmage against Perry Hall, but lost the second.
“There’s always something more to learn about the game, and no one is perfect, so I hope my players arrive every day for practice or games wanting to better themselves,” stated Coach Morris. “I just want to see growth in each and every player.”
North Harford’s Girls’ Basketball teams biggest rivalries this year include Fallston, Bel Air, Hereford and C. Milton Wright. There first game was against Mercy, which they lost 59 to 74.
