Basketball team beats Fallston

Close game against rivals

On December 20, 2013, North Harford’s girls basketball team went head to head with rival team Fallston at North Harford High School. Before the varsity game, junior varsity won 38 to 36 against Fallston’s JV team in the last 10 seconds of the game.

The varsity game began with junior Jodi Enfield winning the jump ball. During the first quarter, North Harford scored the first 3 baskets.

“We did really well,” stated Enfield who plays center on the team. “We held it together the second half.” Throughout the second and third quarters, North Harford received calls for traveling, while Fallston received fouls when North Harford would try to shoot.

By the fourth quarter, senior Allyson Whitacre had to sit out because she received 5 fouls. North Harford also had to in-bound the ball with was less than a minute left for them to score. And within the last minute of the game, 2 foul shots occurred.

“We’re still working on establishing a new offensive system,” stated Coach Kristopher Kapinos. In the end, North Harford’s varsity girls basketball team won 54 to 49. Sophomore Savanna Testerman scored 12 points, and sophomore Ann Wernig scored 14 points for North Harford.

“I think we’ve done really well and that we have improved a lot since the beginning of the season already,” stated Enfield. “We have learned a lot more plays and techniques and more about the game in general.”
The team’s next game will be on January 30 at North Harford High School and begins at 5:15pm.
