Senior pitcher, Brian Shaffer has led the varsity baseball team to victory multiple times this season, and the season is just beginning for North Harford.
According to coach, Tim Larrimore, Shaffer has already shut out C. Milton Wright, closed the game against Patterson Mill for the win, and contributed to the win against Bel Air. These key wins could be the very thing that takes the team far this season.
“Brian trains very hard, and works hard on developing his pitching skills. He listens to his coaches, and always controls his emotions on the mound. He is a wonderful asset to our team,” said Larrimore.
Shaffer is planning to attend the University of Maryland next year, and has been awarded a scholarship for baseball.
“I think Brian is a great leader, he has earned everything that he’s achieved, we’re all really excited for him and his scholarship to Maryland,” says junior Scott Angstadt. “You can always count on Brian to pull through. He pretty much just keeps to himself and gets the job done.”
The team is anticipating success this season, despite the struggle of working practices around the inclement weather.
“I feel like this is the best [baseball] team North Harford has had yet. We play even better together as a team than the team that went to states two years ago,” said Shaffer. “Obviously, we have a few things to work on, but I think it is very, very possible that we will make it all the way this season.”
